Colour Printing 7.0: Next Generation Multi-Channel Printing
Colour Printing 7.0: Next Generation Multi-Channel Printing ( CP7.0) is a training and research project funded by Marie Curie Initial Training Networks (ITN) CP7.0 N-290154 funding. The project is led by The Norwegian Color Research Laboratory at Gjøvik University College and will be executed in collaboration with 5 full network partners and 6 associated partners from academia and industry throughout Europe. The project addresses a significant need for research, training and innovation in the printing industry. Through this project we plan to do research in the colour printing field by fully exploring the possibilities of using more than the conventional four colorants (CMYK) in printing and focussing particularly on the spectral properties. The goal will be to train a new generation of printing scientists who will be able to assume science and technology leadership in this established technological sector.
Four key scientific areas this project will focus on are:
- Spectral modelling of the printer/paper/ink combination.
- Spectral gamut prediction and gamut mapping.
- The effect of paper optical and surface properties on the colour reproduction of multi-channel devices.
- Optimal halftoning algorithms and tonal reproduction characteristics of multi-channel printing.
Five full network partners and 6 associated partners will collaborate with Gjøvik University College in this project. Partner institutes involved in this project are as follows:

There will be 7 early stage researcher (ESR) positions (PHD positions) one at each full network partner (2 at Gjøvik University College) and 2 experienced researcher (ER) positions (PostDoc positions) one in Germany and another in Norway. ESRs will be expected to enrol for a PHD during his/her term of employment in the project. These positions will be at different partner institutes. The positions are as follows:

Eligibility requirements for recruitment of the ESR and ER positions
EU imposes strict requirements on eligibility of the researchers (ESR and ER):
The candidate (for ESR or ER) can be of any nationality. At the time of recruitment, the candidate must not have resided or carried out his/her main activity (work, studies, etc) in the country of the beneficiary for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to his/her recruitment under the project. The candidate should be at the time of recruitment, have not yet been awarded the doctorate degree and is in the first 4 years (full-time equivalent) of his/her research career.
For ESR position – The candidate should have a Masters degree, which formally allows him/her to embark on a doctorate in the country in which the degree/diploma was obtained or in the country where the initial training activities are provided.
For ER position – The candidate at the time of recruitment is
- in the first 5 years (full-time equivalent) of his/her research career
- and is either already in possession of a doctoral degree, independently of the time taken to acquire it or have at least 4 years of research experience (full-time equivalent) after obtaining the degree which formally allow them to embark on a doctorate in the country in which the degree/diploma was obtained or in the country where the initial training activities are provided.
ESR position: Employment as a PHD student with highly competitive salary and mobility allowance.
ER positions: Employment as a PostDoc position with highly competitive salary and mobility allowance.
All the positions require active participation in organised training events, conference special sessions and participation in international conferences.
Specific background and skills in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable: colour printing, colour imaging, image processing, mathematical modeling.
